Expanding Our Crew Diversity
Here are some excellent local resource lists for diverse crew!
After crewing-up over 2800+ projects,
we understand the work, the equipment,
and the keys to success.
These are our crew that we call in when we need the very-best. These are our brilliant minds, our hard workers, our creative problem-solvers, and our reliable pairs-of-hands. It takes a lot to impress us, and this list is only those crew... the most impressive, the most skilled, and the most resourceful. We give these crew a glowing recommendation for their professionalism, their skills, and their creativity under pressure.
Alvin is a longtime friend and collaborator with Lightbulb. He’s crewed dozens of projects with us and is always one of our first calls when in need of a reliable Gaffer. It’s hard to find someone more pleasant and personable than Alvin, and even in the tense moments on-set, he grounds his team and keeps a cool head. Like many of our favorite crew members, he’s comfortable in all production settings– from corporate interviews, to indie features and everything in between.
Alex draws on her experience as a working Grip and Electric and her graduate studies and in cinematography to lead a cohesive lighting team with clear objectives. Whether she’s behind the camera shooting a short film, or on the grip truck lighting commercials for big name brands, she knows the gear, how much time setups take, and the effects lighting has on the story being told. She’s personable, works hard, and rolls with a team of other likeminded crew members. DP Website: http://alexhartbrown.com
Sam was Lightbulb’s first warehouse employee and helped get us to where we are today through meticulous attention to detail and friendly customer service. He has an intimate knowledge of grip and electric gear, especially Lightbulb’s stock of equipment which he manages and maintains on a daily basis. Highly valuing efficiency, safety, and teamwork, his experience in the trenches of production has taught him to foresee the needs of his department well in advance. Even though he’s the tallest person on-set, he’s quiet and focussed, leading his team discreetly to achieving the best image possible for your project.
Ron brings his super-positive and cheery attitude to every set he’s on. He has 15 years of experience in the G&E world and is among our first calls when in need of a pleasant, reliable Gaffer. He works both union and non-union sets in varying roles and has a strong sense of teamwork informed by his work on projects of every scale. Ron is the first person to jump in and lend a hand, and he’ll make you laugh as he helps. He not only works really hard, he cares about keeping things safe on-set. It’s why he’s a close friend of the shop…. well, that and his grilling skills.
Erica is another longtime friend of Lightbulb. She knows her gear incredibly well from her time as a rental agent with large-scale NYC rental houses. When we call Erica either for advice on a gear order or for a position on-set, we know we will get detailed answers, friendly service, and peace of mind knowing we’re speaking to someone with a wealth of knowledge and experience. She’s got the gaffer’s back!
Russ is a focussed, centered gaffer who is amazing at visualizing complex projects. He’s methodical, a clear communicator, infallibly polite, and patient. He has crewed on shoots from small to large and is graceful about making recommendations from his extensive experience and personal gear package. When more equipment is needed, we work with Russ to supplement his gear list with Lightbulb inventory. Together we have whatever your project might need!
Eren is one of our early warehouse employees and has grown into a professional Gaffer and Cinematographer over the years. He’s stoic and keeps a solid poker face in the toughest of situations, but has a great sense of humor and wit when the pressure is off. He’s reliable, organized, and always calm/collected. He has a strong eye for lighting and the knowledge of equipment to back it up. Like all of our favorite crew members, you will find Eren going the extra mile to finesse lighting setups because he truly cares about achieving the best shot.
When we need someone who’s a whiz with a dolly, great at rigging, has a can-do attitude, or a wide range of other G&E skills, we call Joe. He’s friendly with whomever he’s working with on-set and maintains a calm, cheery presence. He’s the one in the photo banner at the top of the page, on the floor making sure the dolly track is laid with precision. Joe is a Local 52 applicant and currently works union and non-union sets. He is a wealth of knowledge about the specifics of grip hardware down to the dimensions of an apple box and the max heights of common stands.
Alphonse has long been our go-to guy for extra help around the warehouse, and he’s now joining us as a full-time rental tech. He knows G&E equipment well, and though he’s on the younger-end of experience, his attention to detail and collected attitude has made him a valuable member of our team on and off-set. He’s quiet and focussed, but has a great sense of humor and works well with a team. We know that when we send Alphonse out on a job not only will it get done safely, the client will be impressed with his politeness and efficient work. Just don’t challenge him to a game of Super Smash Bros… you will lose.
